| Imagery (visualisation) improves the performance of individuals in a number sports. Table tennis players can similarly benefit.
Use Imagery to improve your mental preparation before and after a game. You can regularly practise and prepare for all kinds of competitive events. You can therefore improve your confidence and game plan.
- Improve your concentration.
- Build your confidence
- Control how you respond emotionally
- Practice essential skills
- Practice your game strategy
- Cope with any pain and injury
- Imagery involves...?Using all the senses to re-create or create an experience in the mind.? (Vealey & Greenleaf, 2001, p.248). You can use visualisation to recreate previous positive experiences or picture new events in your mind prior to an important match. Imagery also allows you to prepare and practise your response to all kinds of problems that may occur. One additional benefit of visualisation is that you can pre-experience and practice achieving your goals.
