The Core Muscles

You may not be aware that your upper and lower back muscles, as well as your abdominal muscles, are a part of the core muscles within your body. Your core muscles are located centrally and are essential for the following player characteristics:-

- Balance while performing A range of different shots at speed.

- Explosive Power - powerful forehand & backhand

- Power & endurance over long rallies and a combination of shots.

A strong abdominal and chest area is essential for a complete table tennis player and you should include exercises in your training to strengthen these muscles.
