Code of Conduct: For Coaches

This code of conduct pertains to all coaches (temporary or full-time) acting on behalf of Greenhouse Progress Table Tennis Club, hereafter referred to as The Club

1. Coaches must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person and treat each equally within the context of the table tennis.

2. Coaches must place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.

3. Coaches must adhere to all guidelines laid down by governing bodies.

4. Coaches must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.

5. Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.

6. Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.

7. Coaches must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the players.

8. Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with the players (and where appropriate, parents) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach.

9. Coaches must cooperate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches and other officials) in the best interests of the player.

10. Coaches must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game, or behaviour contrary of the spirit of the Laws of the Game.

11. Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance.

12. Coaches must *Not* use or tolerate inappropriate language or behaviour from players.

13. Coaches are expected to dress appropriately at all times when representing the Club

14. Coaches must be appropriately ETTA qualified.

15. Coaches should be aware of the ETTA rules governing them.

16. Coaches should be punctual for scheduled engagements.

17. In the event that a coach is unable to attend a scheduled session they should notify the Club Manager in good time so that alternative arrangements can be made or the delegates notified.

18. It is important for a coach to get agreement from the Club Management for *all* coaching engagements or they risk not being paid.

19. Coaches to obtain and maintain a CRB check and make them available for inspection as requested by the Club.

20. Coaches need to keep a record of their attendance and the attendance of their subjects being coached when working on behalf of the Club and to submit that register to the Club.

21. Except for Full-time Coaches, It is the responsibility of the Coach to be registered with the ETTA and to obtain their own Coaching Licence

22. Except for Full-time Coaches, It is the responsibility of the Coach to obtain their own ETTA Coaching Insurance
